Canada Visa Application Centres re-opens in India
The desire of Indian students to travel to Canada is finally being fulfilled. Recently, the High Commission of Canada in India announced that the Visa Application Centers in India would re-open on November 20 at Delhi, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru to schedule limited biometric appointments. Students will be able to visit VAC with a prior appointment from December 2 to enroll their biometrics. Further, it was also said that priority would be given to study permit principal applicants and family class applicants.
Canada visa applicants at Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune will be able to schedule their appointments from November 25.
“Effective December 02 2020, Canada visa applicants who have submitted online applications for student (SP) category and family class priority – spouses, partners and children (FCP) can enroll biometrics at Canada Visa Applications Centres in 6 cities - Delhi, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru.” – Statement by VFSGlobal
Although Canada has already allowed international students to travel to Canada if their educational institution has an approved Covid-19 readiness plan, submitting biometrics in India was a significant hindrance in completing the application process.
Now after the VAC opens in India, students will finally be able to complete the process. However, no student is allowed to visit the VACs to submit biometrics without a prior appointment.
How to book an appointment to submit biometrics
Students who have received a Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL) issued by IRCC on their registered emails may schedule their appointment at https://visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/can/book-an-appointment.
Students will be required to upload mandatory information such as name, date of birth, contact information, and a copy of their BIL for verification.
Once the VAC officials receive the information, they schedule the appointment and confirm it back to the applicant via email.
Students who have booked their appointment are advised not to postpone their appointment as they may not get another chance soon. Also, Submitting multiple biometric appointments is not advisable as it will not increase the applicant’s chances of receiving a confirmed appointment.
On the day of the appointment, students must carry the following documents with them.
Documents required for Biometric submission
- Appointment letter as received from the Call Center
- Valid Original Passport
- Biometric Instruction letter
- A signed copy of the consent form
It is recommended to students that before visiting the VAC on the scheduled day, they make sure their hands are free from Henna as well as their fingers are free from any injuries, as it may create issues while submitting their biometrics.
The High Commission also said that more appointments would become available as they phase in the service.
Pyramid eServices advises students to stay away from agents who ask for money to get an appointment for them. The process of securing a biometrics appointment is online and is completely free. Students who applied through Pyramid eServices and have received their BIL number are encouraged to contact our experts to get assistance in the biometrics scheduling process.
