Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology provides a strong foundation in human movement and performance in relation to exercise, sport, work, and wellness. Our program offers a transformative student experience that balances theory with hands-on practice. Kinesiology offers the creative space to explore scientific experiences in our state-of-the-art labs while working alongside leading professors in the field. The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology offers an honours program, directed studies, minor in Ergonomics, and practicums in career-related work situations. Why Kinesiology at UNB? UNB’s Faculty of Kinesiology has been a Canadian leader in kinesiology, recreation, sport and wellness since 1957. The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology is an excellent choice for students who are interested in health-related professions, such as: medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, athletic therapy and massage therapy; or interested in other professions including: ergonomics, fitness, teaching and coaching. At UNB, our goal is to help fuel the worldwide movement to increase opportunities for people to reach their full bodily potential. *Our program is nationally accredited with the Canadian Council of University Physical Education and Kinesiology Administrators (CCUPEKA). Hands-on learning Kinesiology provides hands-on learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom: Practical lab experiences begin in the first year of study when students apply the knowledge gained in lectures to real life tests, such as: Biomechanical Motion Analysis, Motor Learning Assessments, Influence of Anxiety on Skill Performance, and VO2 Max testing. Hands-on learning not only occurs in scheduled laboratory courses, it’s also integrated into lecture-based courses through in-class activities and out-of-class assignments. Practicums: Some students choose to learn directly from a health care worker; others assist with coaching a team, or they volunteer with a community agency. Skills you will acquire: An understanding of the scientific links between physical activity and health Ability to assess, interpret, and apply interventions to human movement Knowledge of the relationship between exercise and aging Ability to identify any ethical issues Effective Communication

Study and Work in Canada
