
UK’s Passenger Locator form mandatory for International students
Are you traveling to the UK soon? Then you must provide your journey and contact details to the visa and immigration office before your departure!
The UK government has made it mandatory to complete the Public Health Passenger Locator form before arriving in the country for foreigners, including international students. The online form can only be filed before 48 hours you are due to travel to the UK.
The government has taken this measure to contain the coronavirus spread in the UK. The government will use the information you give to contact you if you or someone you’ve traveled with develops coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms.
The information that you will have to give while air-traveling from India to the UK is as follows
- your passport details
- the name of the airline you’re travelling with
- your flight number
- your booking reference
- the date you’ll be arriving
- the name of the airport you’ll be arriving into
- the name of the company organizing your tour group (if applicable)
- details of someone who can be contacted if you get ill while you’re in the UK
- the address you’ll be staying at for your first 14 days in the UK
On completion of the form, you will receive a confirmation email with a document attached that you will need to show to the authorities on your arrival in the UK. You may print a copy of the document or download it on your phone to carry it with you. At the checkpoint, the officer will scan the QR code at the top of the document to check you have completed the form successfully.
The government has further informed that those who do not fill the form will be fined up to £100. Moreover, if someone breaks this rule more than once, they will not be allowed to enter the UK.
Moreover, at this time, it is also mandatory that all the travelers from India self-isolate in the place that you mentioned in the public health passenger locator form for the full 14 days.
It is worth mentioning here that India has an Air Bubble agreement with the UK under which Any Indian national holding any type of valid UK visa can travel to the United Kingdom.
